Initial "Release"
Welcome to Codename: Empty!
Also known as the time sink I have had since 2016 or so.
Codename: Empty was a project I have been working on and off (mostly off) since high-school. Lots of design decisions were terrible, and the scope of the game is something so large I doubt I will ever finish it. Despite that, I have decided to finally say @#$% it, and release what I currently have.
The game is a strange mix of roguelike and text adventure. You start out in the forest as your choice of race, and proceed to explore the world around you. Every time you play, if you somehow decide to give it more than a single go, will be different. The enemies, locations, items, and just about everything aside from certain events and quests change every go around.
I spent most of my time making the game engine heavily moddable, and that caused me to leave the content a little bit barebones. If you do stick around and find a certain town, follow that mysterious trail and you might just come out the other end a little bit richer. Find a wolf cave? Well, I would not enter it until I have some better gear.
Look at this like a super basic tech demo. Dialogue, fights, quests, events, items, and areas all all there in there most basic sense. I just need to finish off those core features and actually get to writing the rest of that main quest now!
Maybe releasing this will get me motivated to finally finish it. It's only taken me, *checks notes,* about eight years to get to this point.
